Jenny asks…

Needs suggestions for chicken drumstick? Recipe other than making it a fried chicken?

I have friends coming over tonight. I have several pieces of drumsticks in my ref and thats what I plan on serving them.
Any recipe you have tried and tested that you can suggest? like maybe braising it or cooking it in the oven?

This is an easy and very good recipe that I have used many times.
6-8 chicken legs
1 jalapeno ( if desired)
seasoning salt
pepper
onion powder
garlic powder
butter
4 potatoes cut into half lengthwise

Place potatoes into 9×13 baking dish, season the chicken with the seasoning salt, garlic and onion powder and place chicken on top of the potatoes, put slices of butter on top of each potato and slice up the jalapeno and sprinkle over the dish and bake at 350 degrees for like 30 to 45 minutes or until chicken and potatoes are done.

Sesame Chicken Drumettes

1/3 cup teriyaki sauce
1 1/2 tablespoons dry sherry
1 1/2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
1 1/4 pounds chicken drumettes (about 12)
1 1/2 tablespoons barbecue sauce
1 1/2 tablespoons honey
1/4 teaspoon sesame oil

In a large resealable plastic bag, combine teriyaki sauce, sherry, and sesame seeds. Add chicken drumettes, turning to coat. Seal bag and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 1 day.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

Line a cookie sheet with foil. Using tongs, transfer drumettes to cookie sheet. Discard marinade. Bake until drumettes are golden brown, about 15 minutes.

Mix barbecue sauce, honey, and sesame oil in a small bowl. Brush drumettes with half of sauce mixture and bake for 5 more minutes. Using clean tongs, turn drumettes over, brush other side with sauce mixture, and bake for 5 more minutes. Serve hot or at room temperature.

This is one of Giada’s recipes…I saw her make these and they looked really good sorry I could not find the Barefoot Contessa’s recipe.

Mandy asks…

Do you have any good chicken drumstick recipes? Could I make it like this…..?

We have been having drumsticks more frequently than other chicken lately because its cheaper.

I’ve made chicken cacciatore baked in the oven (in a dish thing with a lid). My bf likes how the chicken goes nice and tender. I was wondering two things.

1) Could I make a white sauce (or should it be a cheese sauce) and cook the chicken in the oven like that?? Would that taste bad?

2) If I cook the chicken in a the same dish with lid, without any sauce. Will the chicken cook tender? Or will it dry out? Could I just cook it with some garlic and other herbs in there and make like roast chicken drumsticks??

Or would it be best if i’m going to cook it with no sauce, to just cook it on a baking tray?
CASSEROLE DISH!! i forgot what it was called :) (experienced cook obviously heh)

You can bake the drumsitcks with honey and soya sauce and some chilli sauce, keep a lid on it and turn them frequently. Then just before removing sprinkle sesame seeds and roll them around in it. Roast for a further 5 min so the sesames toast. Its really nice! YUM! PS: 2)- it will not dry out, though i would only put the garlic in halfway before finished cooking otherwise it might burn and go nasty.
